1. About these terms
This website is operated by Wolwekraal Conservation and Research Organisation (WCRO), a South African non-profit organisation, NPO registration number 121-079. These terms govern use of wcro.co.za. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Separate terms supplied for a particular booking, event, donation arrangement or research agreement also apply to that arrangement. Nothing in these terms limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
2. Using our website
You may use this website for lawful purposes, including learning about our conservation work, accessing publications, making enquiries, subscribing to updates and supporting WCRO. Do not interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access, upload harmful material, impersonate another person or use personal information obtained through the website unlawfully. Information you submit must be accurate to the best of your knowledge.
3. Website information
We take reasonable care with website information, but research findings, event details, availability and other content may change. Please confirm details directly with us before making travel or other arrangements. General educational material is not a substitute for advice suited to a particular situation. We may correct errors and update or temporarily withdraw website content.
4. Bookings, events and reserve visits
An enquiry or RSVP is not a confirmed booking unless the event listing or our confirmation expressly says so. Check the applicable price, meeting point, age restrictions, access arrangements and cancellation terms before confirming. Visits are subject to availability and the arrangements agreed with WCRO. Follow guide instructions and reserve rules, respect wildlife and heritage, and do not remove or damage plants, animals, geological material or artefacts. Research, sampling and other restricted activities require the relevant permission and any statutory permits.
5. Changes and cancellations
Outdoor activities may be affected by weather, safety concerns or conservation requirements. We will communicate material changes using the contact details supplied. Any cancellation, rescheduling, credit or refund will be handled under the booking terms provided before confirmation and applicable South African law. Contact us promptly if you need to change a booking. These website terms do not impose a separate cancellation fee or blanket no-refund rule.
6. Donations
Donations support WCRO’s conservation, research, education and related organisational work. Check the amount, currency and purpose before paying. Where WCRO expressly accepts a restricted donation, the agreed restriction applies. Contact us before donating if you require a binding restriction. Payments made through an external payment service are also subject to that service’s terms. A donation does not purchase goods or services unless expressly stated. If you make a duplicate or mistaken donation, or suspect an unauthorised payment, contact us promptly with the transaction reference. Refund requests are assessed on their circumstances and applicable law. Do not send full card details by email or WhatsApp. Request any tax documentation directly from WCRO; tax deductibility depends on the donation, the required documentation and applicable law.
7. Copyright and publications
Website text, branding, photographs and other material belong to WCRO or their respective rights holders. You may link to publicly available pages and read or download material for personal, non-commercial reference, subject to any licence stated on that material. Obtain permission before reproducing, adapting or commercially using protected content, except where the law permits otherwise. Keep acknowledgements and copyright notices intact. Linked research papers and third-party publications remain subject to their publishers’ or authors’ rights and licences.
8. External services and links
Links may take you to newsletter platforms, payment services, WhatsApp, social media, maps or external publications. Those services have their own terms and privacy notices. A link does not mean that WCRO controls or endorses everything on the external service. Please check the destination and its terms before providing information or paying.
9. Availability and responsibility
We cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free website access. Take reasonable precautions when downloading files and protect your devices. To the extent permitted by law, WCRO is not responsible for loss caused by events beyond its reasonable control or by your unlawful use of the website. Nothing here excludes responsibility for fraud, gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or any liability that South African law does not allow us to exclude. These terms are not a personal-injury waiver for visits or activities.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Our Cookie Policy explains cookies and similar technologies. Merely browsing this website does not constitute consent to newsletter marketing or optional tracking.
11. Changes, law and queries
South African law applies to these terms. Changes take effect when published and apply prospectively; they do not retrospectively change an existing confirmed arrangement without a lawful basis or agreement. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue where they can operate independently. Please contact us about concerns so that we can try to resolve them. This does not prevent you from approaching a competent court, regulator or other available dispute-resolution body.
